John P. Monette was the probate judge for the City of Newport in Orleans County, Vermont.[1] He began serving as a judge for the court in 1986.[2] Monette was re-elected on November 2, 2010, to a five-year term that began on February 1, 2011.[3][4][5] He was re-elected again on November 4, 2014, for a five-year term commencing on February 1, 2015. His term expired on January 31, 2019.[6] [7]

Monette received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1976 and his J.D. degree from the University of Maine in 1979.[2]

Career

Monette also maintained his own law practice, the Law Office of John P. Monette, in Derby, Vermont.[2]
