General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 49.5 percent of the vote. He competed against David Humke. [1]

Springgate received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis in 1981 and his J.D. degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1984.[2]
