John Paul Kennedy
John Paul Kennedy was a judge for the Third Judicial District Court in Salt Lake County, Utah.[1] He was appointed to the court in November 2004 by former Governor Orlene Walker and retired from the bench on December 31, 2014.[2][3]
Education
Kennedy graduated from Harvard University in 1963. He went on to receive his J.D. from the Stanford University Law School.[2]
Career
After earning his J.D. degree, Kennedy practiced law with the firm of Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Gearldson in Chicago, Illinois, from 1966 to 1972. He then was a partner with the firms of Boyden & Kennedy, Nielson & Senior, and Edwards, McCoy & Kennedy. He also previously served as of-counsel to the firm of Durham Jones & Pinegar. During this time, Kennedy focused primarily on labor law, employment relations, and Indian affairs. He also served as attorney general and assistant attorney general for seven Indian tribal governments.[2][3]

Kennedy was retained to the Third Judicial District Court in November 2008.[4]
