John Pence is a Republican political consultant. As of August 2020, he was a senior advisor for Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign.[1][2] He is the nephew of Vice President Mike Pence (R).

Career

Early career

After graduating from the College of William and Mary in 2011, Pence attended law school at Indiana University, graduating in 2015. While in law school, Pence worked as an extern at the U.S. Department of Justice in civil and criminal units. He then went on to work as an associate at IceMiller, a law firm in Indianapolis, Ind., from 2015 to 2016.[3]

In August 2016, Pence joined Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.[4] According to The Republic in Columbus, Indiana, Pence worked at campaign headquarters in New York City.[5]

In January 2017, Trump announced that he would keep his campaign committee together and that Michael Glassner—his deputy campaign manager in 2016—would lead the group.[2] According to Politico, the organization was set up to focus on data building and fundraising for an expected presidential campaign in 2020.[6] One of the campaign's first actions was to print inauguration merchandise to raise funds. Pence told Fox Business that the campaign's early messaging goals included assessing the campaign's future, saying, "I think of this as the startup phase. We are thinking of who are the directors, who are the officers of this company going to be? How are we going to formulate the vision, the purpose of the corporation?"[7]
