John Percy de Jongh, Jr.
John Percy de Jongh Jr. (born November 13, 1957, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) is a former governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands. A Democrat, de Jongh was first elected in 2006 and served from January 1, 2007, to January 5, 2015.[1]
Biography
De Jongh was raised in St. Thomas and then left for schooling. Upon his return, his first career in the islands was with the Tri-Island Economic Development Council. He was then hired by Chase Manhattan Bank.[1]
In 1984, de Jongh was appointed to the Industrial Development Commission before being appointed the youngest commissioner of finance. He served as governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands beginning January 1, 2007.[1]
