My name is John Plante, and I am running for FL #HD4, which is comprised of Southern Okaloosa County including FWB, Destin, Crestview and Niceville. As a State Representative for Southern Okaloosa, I hope to be able to work to add resiliency to our county so that it can better weather trying times. I look forward to working with my fellow Okaloosans to build a stronger county and stronger Florida.

I'm not a politician but am running as a career IT professional and will be looking for ways to improve the resiliency of Florida's IT Systems including Florida's grossly inadequate unemployment system. Initially I am fundraising for the filings fees to participate in this year's elections. Like many of you, I find the divisive nature of American politics to be of increasing concern. We have always been a nation that aspires to greatness, of high ideals. But in the last decade or so, our divisions are increasingly moving us apart when in reality, the divisions in what we want for ourselves and our families are not that large. We all want healthy outcomes, fair access to healthcare. We want clean waters in our communities. We feel an urgency for things to be better, but the leaders we have seem more interested in maintaining a status quo than working on solutions that work for all of us. We're hitting the ground running, developing our platform. Any help towards these ends will be greatly appreciated: https://donorbox.org/john-plante-for-state-representative-district-4.

  • I want to add resiliency to Okaloosa's economy by exploring different ways we can bring more industries into the area.
  • I wand to add resiliency to Florida's IT Systems so that it can better weather trying times
  • It's time to work on fair access to healthcare for better outcomes. It's time for Medicaid Expansion.

You know - I volunteered at my kids' school helping the parent leader association as well as at a local food pantry in the past few years and the men and women who were part of these organizations often had obstacles in life you would think would preclude them from volunteering. I find that strength admirable.
The Challenger explosion. I remember it because Christa McAuliffe was built into an almost super heroine status in my mind. It engendered a soft spot for me for teachers who I see as modern day heroes.
I worked at a hot dog restaurant called Franks Franks on a military base. That role expanded me to me also standing in at the food court Baskin Robbins, Robin Hood, and Anthony's Pizza from time to time. I worked there less than a year.
Having a computer application written to divide each district by population. The way it does it would have to be agreed upon by all parties.
