John R. La Cava
John R. La Cava is a former justice for the Westchester County Supreme Court in the 9th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to a term on this court that began in 1999 and ended in 2012. He also served as an associate justice of the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division (9th and 10th judicial districts) starting in 2009.[1][2]
Education
La Cava received his B.A. degree from Fordham College in 1969 and his J.D. degree from Fordham University Law School in 1973.[1]
Career
La Cava began his career in 1973 as a Senior Assistant District Attorney for Westchester County, New York. He was then elected to the Yonkers City Court in 1985. In 1989, he joined the Westchester County Court, where he served until his election to the Supreme Court in 1998. He took office as a Supreme Court Justice in 1999 and was appointed an associate justice of the Appellate Term ten years later.[1]
2012 election
LaCava was one of seven candidates competing for three seats on the Supreme Court 9th Judicial District. He received 12.01% of the vote, losing the general election on November 6, 2012.[3] He ran on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party tickets.[4]
