John Rader is counsel for U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.).[1][2] Rader was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[3][2]
Career
In 2010, John Rader began his government career as a summer clerk for the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Tennessee for Judge Harry S. Mattice, Jr. and for Judge Julia S. Gibbons of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.[1] That same year, Rader served as the acting assistant district attorney for Tennessee's 13th judicial district.[1]
In 2011, Rader was appointed acting deputy counsel to the governor for the state of Tennessee. He remained in that role until 2015, when he was appointed as counsel for U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.).[1][2]
Donald Trump presidential transition team, 2016-2017
Rader was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. He was the team's deputy director of presidential appointments.[2]
