John Raley was born in Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree from Coe College in 1981 and additional education from Saint Ambrose University in 2000. His career experience includes working as a insurance agent.[1]

|As a business person and owner of an insurance agency, John has been recognized for his commitment to excellence in the industry. He has received well over three hundred awards and accolades for his dedication, work ethic and integrity. As a member of the Iowa City business community he is also involved with the Iowa City Business Partnership and Iowa City Area Development Group.
John’s exceptional leadership skills were honed as the president of the Iowa National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA-Iowa). He has traveled to Washington DC to represent NAIFA on the national level. He engaged with legislators to change and create policies that protect seniors from financial exploitation. NAIFA successfully advocated for the Senior Safe Act, signed into law in May 2018.

Education - It wasn’t that long ago that Iowa ranked first in education. The state welcome sign read, “Welcome to Iowa - A State of Minds.” Today we’re 20th and dropping. We need leaders who will invest in our most valuable resource, our students and support our teachers.
