Gov. Matt Bevin (R) appointed Reynolds on March 25, 2019, to succeed Judge Pamela R. Goodwine.[1]
Reynolds was a nonpartisan candidate for judge of the Kentucky Circuit Court 22 3rd Division in Kentucky. Reynolds lost the general election on November 6, 2018.

Judges of the Kentucky Circuit Courts are elected to eight-year terms in nonpartisan elections. They must run for re-election if they wish to serve subsequent terms.[2]
The chief judge is selected by his or her peers and serves a two-year term.[2]
Qualifications
In order to serve on this court, a judge must be:[2]
- a U.S. citizen;
- a resident of the represented district for at least two years; and
- licensed to practice law for at least eight years.
