John Robbins (Arkansas)
John B. Robbins was a judge on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. He served District 4, Position 1. Per Act 1812 of 2003, District 4 is composed of Clark, Garland, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Howard, Little River, Logan, Miller, Montgomery, Pike, Polk, Scott, Sebastian, Sevier, and Yell counties.[1]
Judge Robbins was elected to the Court of Appeals in 1992 and retired in December 2012.
Education
Judge Robbins attended Henderson State University, Ouachita Baptist University, University of Tennessee and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1973.[2]
Career
Robbins served as law clerk to Pat Mehaffy, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit from 1973-74. He was in private practice with the firm Wootton, Slagle & Robbins from 1974-1984. In 1984 he was elected Chancellor and Probate Judge of Judicial District 18-E, and in 1992, he was elected to the Arkansas Court of Appeals. By appointment, he filled the position of chief judge for the court from 1997-2001.[2]
