  • Promoting and protecting small businesses. They are the backbone of the Northern Michigan Economy. Reducing tax burdens and needless regulations.
  • We need to make sure Northern Michigan has a part in the budget and our needs are addressed by working with our Northern Michigan Caucus.
  • Keeping our youth in the state after high school or college. I talk with a lot of our students about whether they will stay in Michigan or not. A solid one third are planning on leaving the state. We need to engage with them on what kinds of things would they need to keep them home. Our state is losing the youth and getting older. We need these workers as this state sees this change.
Transportation, Health Care, Economic Development and Energy.
The ability to listen to the people that comprise the district. Patience when things don't go your way or don't move as fast as you like.
My best quality is communications with my constituents. I engage with them in multiple ways. I make sure I am out in the district at every possible event.
Helping the people navigate state government with problems that may arise.

The legislature is supposed to provide oversite and budgeting. The governor is supposed to propose policy and run the administration.
yes, you have to work with others to get bills passed through. 110 state house members and 56 are needed to pass anything through to the senate. The higher the number better the chance of it getting signed into law.
yes the governor should work with legislature on EPs.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Michigan

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Michigan scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
