No race should go unchallenged. To make Democracy work, people have to be willing to run. I noticed that with 24 hours until the filing deadline nobody had put their name in to run against our longtime incumbent County Clerk. This is an office focused on carrying out the law, not making it so it does not get the attention of some of the legislative races. Nevertheless, the role of county clerk is essential in serving our county residents and executing the law.
  • Provide better service - publish service levels to hold the office accountable to the public. Innovate new ways that people can access the clerk's office like staying open late one night per week, or by making some services available by appointment.
  • Accessibility - make sure that the clerk's office can serve residents of different backgrounds, with disabilities or who speak different languages. Collin County has large Asian and Latin populations and services should be available to those residents as well.
  • Your vital and property records need to be secure. I will undertake a risk assessment of the clerk's office and key third party service providers that the clerk's office uses for records services. I will work with the commissioner's court to ensure that there are county level roles for cybersecurity.
I'm interested in preserving our Democratic institutions. I also care about the environment, civil rights and climate change.
