John S. Warren

John S. Warren is an attorney in Dillon, Montana. He was also a candidate to fill a vacancy on the Montana Supreme Court created due to the mid-term retirement of John Warner.[1]

Warren was one of 11 attorneys that submitted applications to the Montana Judicial Nominating Commission forwarded their top three recommendations for the upcoming vacancy on the Supreme Court to Governor Schweitzer.

The nominees were Carlo J. Canty, Warren and Michael E. Wheat. Schweitzer had 30 days to review the candidates, and make his selection. The appointee would take office in January of 2010 and run in the November 2010 general election if they wished to serve out the remainder of Warner's term, which expires December 31, 2014.[2]

Education

Warren earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1970 and a law degree from the University of Montana in 1973.[3]

Career

Warren has worked for the law firm Davis, Warren & Hritscosince 1973 and been a partner since 1975. He served as the city attorney for Dillon from 1982-84.[4] He has served the Montana Commission on Practice, the disciplinary arm of the Montana Supreme Court, since 1990 and has been its chairman since 2001.[5]
