I am John Sharkey, a Democrat, running for the US House of Representatives 12th District of North Carolina. There is gridlock in Washington and the only way to change it is to change the people there. I am running for my first political office.
  • Promote and legislate for Parents and Teachers to work together on the education needs of our youth.
  • Pass laws that further the benefits for current and future Medicare/Medicaid recipients so that adequate options are available for our Healthcare.
  • Be a voice for the passage of updated Voters Rights so that all eligible voters will have assurance that their vote will be counted.
Education of our youth is critical to the continued success of this long running experiment called the United States.

Devotion to our Medicare/Medicaid recipients to make sure their benefits continue as they work hard for them.

Talk across the aisle to stress the importance of passing an updated Voter's Rights Act that has no time limit.
Represent the concerns of your constituency.

Follow the Constitution.

Be willing to cross the aisle for the better good when necessary.
I would like to be remembered for service to my family, my community and to the world.
The first historical event that I have a memory of was the announcement of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I was about 5 at that time. I saw everyone sad around me and later I came to understand the significance of his journey.
It is unique because it is the closest branch of Government that represents all the people.
I think it is not a prerequisite to being a valuable player in government.
Our greatest challenge is keeping the United States united.
Global warming needs to be addressed.
I am open to any committees that leadership allows me to be a part of. It would be an honor.
Yes or it could be extended to 4 years so a President can implement his platform.
We need to have term limits for Congress, the Senate, and the Courts.
The power of the purse is shared with both the Congress and Senate so it is a role that I would welcome.
