I am a 6th generation Comal County resident. I am a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, surrounded by an amazing, massive extended family that bleeds burnt orange. My degree is in coaching and I was an assistant for the Aggie football team for 3 years. I was hired away and was the HR guy for a tech firm in College Station. After doing that for several years, and hiring more people than I can count, I made the jump to business development selling HR (now the term is Human Capital Management). It was during this time that I started volunteering with various NFP incubators, startup organizations, college departments, etc, PE backed incubators, etc. I have advised dozens of founders and CEO's, helping them build teams, create and implement SOPs, and trim excess spending. I have learned not to plan for the worst when things are bad, but plan for the worst in the middle of abundance. I have crafted processes that were based on metrics, KPI's and other figures. And all of that was done with one goal in mind, maximizing the shareholder value. I will bring this same approach to county government, demanding that all decisions show exactly how they will benefit the taxpayer. Every expense will be scrutinized. We will then take the $8 - $9 million that I feel we could trim from the county budget and use that support my priorities of public safety and county infrastructure.
  • Bring the taxpayer back as the focus of the Commissioners Court. The county government needs to live in the same reality as every household, and small business, in Comal County. This means making decisions based on facts and figures, not relationships. It also means having a plan, which I do. I know exactly what I will do on day one to begin getting back some of the taxpayer money.
  • Continue to support law enforcement all over Comal County. The Sheriff's dept does an incredible job improving the quality of life for all of us in Comal County. The job they do makes everything else in the county possible. No tourism, no nightlife, no worshiping, no business or residential growth, none of that happens if people do not feel safe. When the operations of the county are streamlined, we will then have the ability to give even more support to the Sheriff's dept.
  • Infrastructure in all of Comal County needs to be maintained. For too long Bulverde and Garden Ridge have been treated as after-thoughts by the county government. Those areas are experiencing the same growth as New Braunfels, but not getting the same support. That will change when I am in office. The county government will work better, will communicate better, will be a better partner with these cities.
Water. It affects me personally as a landowner and Rancher. Of the two wells on our property, one has been dry for over 3 years now. We have to fill tanks of water and then transport them to the bottom of our ranch for the cattle in those pastures. While it concerns me every hour of the day, I also know it will not go away, there is no silver bullet solution. Growth will continue so we have to put policies and procedures in place with water in mind.
