Courtright was appointed to the court by former Governor John Engler in June 2000.[1] On November 4, 2014, Courtright was re-elected unopposed for another six-year term.[2]

Courtright received his undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and his J.D. degree from Creighton University.[3]
