I was raised in Marshall, Texas with a strong religious and conservative upbringing. Several men in my family served in various branches of our military, and their sacrifices impacted their communities for our country. Because of that I enlisted in the Army when I was 17. After my discharge I came face to face with the same struggles many veterans do that also affect civilians in different ways. My journey through addictions and mental health struggles ignited my passion to want to create change for those around me. Part of my success through this journey comes from the support of my wife and the village we have around us with family, church, community and my faith. In 2016 I married the love of my life and have since gone on to expand our family to include 5 beautiful children.
  • With a family of 7 the pressures of Bidenomics have strained our family as I am sure it has with everyone else. The astronomical cost increase of gas, groceries and everyday necessities has caused pain across the state. I will work with other house members to lower taxes to help improve and grow our economy. I hope to slowly eliminate state income taxes as Texas has done. Or to slowly eliminate sales tax. Doing either of these things would allow Iowans to keep more of their own hard-earned money.
  • Small businesses are the cornerstone of many of Iowan’s communities and the lifeblood of local economies. We need Iowans to support small businesses and inject revenue into their communities, creating jobs that support families and bolster neighborhood services. One way that the state government can support small, local businesses is by creating tax breaks for them. Without small businesses, rural communities in Iowa will eventually cease to exist.
  • Veterans Support As a Veteran myself, this issue is top priority for me. Iowa has not done enough for veterans and we are not taken seriously. I have seen that first hand and that is why I founded Salute To the Fallen. I will bring veteran issues to the house that will begin real change.
Mental Health

Mental health is the cornerstone of our overall well-being affecting how we think, feel, and interact with the world. We must proactively care for our mental health.
In today’s stressful world, anxiety and depression are common. Mental health can be improved and nurtured by finding balance, setting boundaries, and seeking help when life’s challenges become overwhelming.
Mental health is a fundamental human right. Everyone deserves access to quality mental health care without discrimination. Let us advocate for mental health awareness, accessibility, education, and eliminate the stigma behind mental health and seeking treatment.

Effective legislation that will open state facilities back up with more hospital beds per capita, pa
The first major historical event I remember is 9/11. I was sitting in middle school as we just finished the pledge and turned on the news as the reports of the first plane hitting the tower. With how close we lived to the airforce base everyone was picked up from school immediately. It was at this point that I a 12 year old decided I wanted to enlist like many of my family.
Their are many bills I would love to bring up immediately, but the first bill is one that has been killed in the past that would help prevent veteran suicides. The first bill I would introduce is the green alert similar to a amber alert it would allow a broadcast to go out that would make it where law enforcement and individuals could start searching immediately for a missing veteran.
