Campaign website

Thormann’s campaign website stated the following:

IMMIGRATION
I believe immigration into America must be safe, legal, and controlled. A safe and secure border is part of our national security. Our southern border is a dangerous, deadly, and chaotic crisis. The crisis at our border started when Joe Biden and the democrats took office because of his absolute refusal to enforce the immigration laws passed by Congress. Safe and secure countries need strong borders.

It is estimated that Joe Biden and the democrats allowed 8 to 10 million illegal immigrants to enter our country. There are an estimated 10,000 illegal border crossing at our southern border EVERY DAY. Most of these people are good people who want a better life for themselves and their families, but they must enter legally. Everyone knows there are an alarming number of illegal immigrants who are violent criminals. These illegal immigrant, violent criminals commit violent crimes against Americans, and against immigrants.

Sadly, much of the danger comes to the immigrants from the risky, uncertain and onerous journey forced upon them by the human trafficking. Tragically, women and young girls are in even more danger to become victims of rape and sexual assault due to Biden’s border crisis.

If the Chinese Communist Party deployed a weapon that killed over 100,000 people, we would call it a weapon of mass destruction. FENTANYL IS A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION. The CCP has allied with the Mexican cartels and killed over 100,000 with fentanyl poisoning. This is another result of the Biden border crisis. Biden’s border crisis has killed immigrants, killed Americans and enriched the cartels in Mexico. It is clear the democrats and Joe Biden have no intention of securing our southern border.

Illegal immigration takes jobs from American citizens and costs billions of our tax dollars. Illegal immigration is overburdening our school systems, our healthcare systems, and our welfare systems. Illegal immigration is dangerous for our Border Patrol Agents, American citizens and the immigrants themselves.

When you send me to Congress, I will fight to ensure the executive branch does its job, and fully executes all of our immigration laws and secures our southern border. I will fight for a border wall. I will fight to deport the violent illegals who Joe Biden and the democrats let into our country.

HEALTHCARE
I believe the biggest problem with our healthcare system is government involvement.

We all agree that our healthcare system needs to be better. The progressive, liberal democrats, led by Bernie and AOC, tell you that our system is unfair. They call their solution “single payer”. What they really want is complete federal government takeover of our health care system.

Healthcare is a service. Health insurance is a product. Healthcare and health insurance are extremely important to our wellbeing but are not for the government to give or take or control. In fact they are so important, we must keep government bureaucracy as far away from them as possible.

We must allow citizens of this country to buy the right health insurance for themselves and their families’ needs where they find it. The government should be fostering choice, not limiting it.

Medicare and Medicaid pay well below market prices which force providers and insurance companies to charge more for everyone else. We all agree we need “rules for the road and guide rails” to all of our systems, but HHS is too big, too burdensome, and too costly.

When you send me to Congress, I will fight against big government takeover of healthcare and fight for limiting the federal government’s involvement in our healthcare system.

EDUCATION
Education, not indoctrination! I believe the proper education of our children is the single most important thing we can do to ensure the long-term survival and greatness of America.

Being a teacher is hard. It’s hard work that largely goes without thanks and recognition. The majority of our teachers do a great job. They want the best for our kids. Teachers make sacrifices of their time and sometimes their own money. Good teachers need our support. Many teachers are parents too.

The federal government’s involvement in education has made education more expensive and much less effective. The federal government’s involvement in education has pushed aside parents and teachers and put the unions in charge of our children and the future of our country. The teacher unions have removed faith and morality from our schools. They are teaching our children to dislike America, accept abnormal as normal, and to replace God with government. This is unacceptable.

When you send me to Congress, I will fight to end the union’s power over our children. I will fight to make school choice more available. I will fight to put our children’s education, and their future prosperity, back in the hands of parents.

ENERGY
I believe American energy independence is critical to a strong national defense, economic growth and prosperity here at home. Cheap, abundant energy fuels the American economy.

Under President Trump, America became energy independent. We were a net exporter of energy. The cost to fuel our cars, to heat & cool our homes, to fuel our businesses, was low and affordable. We had the strongest economy our country had seen since Ronald Reagan was President.

With the stroke of pen, Joe Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline, reduced the global supply of oil, and purposely increased the price of gas at the pump. The progressive Marxist democrats’ fanatical commitment to forcing us into an anti-American, untested, and unproven “green” economy, is dangerous on many levels.

Being dependent on foreign oil makes America weak and vulnerable. Expensive energy stifles economic growth. When economic growth is choked off, we cannot invest in a strong defense and other programs that are necessary to keep America strong, free, and prosperous.

When you send me to Congress, I will fight to open and utilize every possible source of American produced energy. We must drill for oil on American soil. We must use our coal and natural gas. We need more nuclear energy. We must use all of the abundant and available energy we have. The future of America depends on it.

OUR ECONOMY
I believe a strong economy is essential for a strong national defense and the safety of the American people. I believe a strong economy is essential to individual freedom and prosperity. I believe a strong economy is essential for upward mobility and racial equality.

Our federal government is out of control. Our country is over $34 trillion dollars in debt ($34,000,000,000,000!). U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time (usdebtclock.org) Under the false flag of fairness and equity, the federal government under democrat control, has wasted billions of our tax dollars and imposed burdensome rules and regulations that stifle economic growth, restrict our freedoms, and promote inequity and economic stagnation.

When you send me to Congress, I will fight to have a pro-growth economic policy for families and employers. Policies built on limited, fair, and practical laws, rules, and regulations designed to reduce government involvement, reduce spending (reducing debt & deficit) that results in every individual American having an equal opportunity to pursue the peace, happiness, and prosperity that they seek for themselves, their families, and their communities benefiting Maryland and all Americans.

NATIONAL DEFENSE
I believe in peace through strength. I believe a strong America is the key to long term security, economic growth, and prosperity around the world. I believe our military is—and must be—the most effective fighting force in the world. We are a force for good.

The deadly and disastrous exit of American forces from Afghanistan, was a shameful national embarrassment. It showed the incompetence and weakness of Joe Biden, his chosen military leaders, and the democrat philosophy of national defense. Joe Biden and the democrat party have emboldened our enemies and adversaries.

Today, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine threatens peace and security in all of Europe. Hammas, a proxy of Iran, attacked our good friend, Israel. The Houthis, a Shia Islamist political and military organization and another proxy of Iran, has attacked American military positions in the middle east. Under the direction of Iran, and in the face of American leadership, and has attacked disrupted commercial, international shipping in the Red Sea.

Tensions are rising between China and Taiwan. China is ramping up political and military pressure. Every day, China uses intimidation tactics towards Taiwan with their air and naval forces. Analysts fear war may be imminent because of Biden and the democrats’ weak foreign policy.

When you send me to Congress, I will fight to restore American strength and world peace. I will fight to invest in the weapons, training, and technologies of the future to ensure our military is well equipped, well trained, and well positioned to defend American interests around the world. Peace through strength. I will fight to ensure our veterans and their families are taken care of and provided everything they need while they serve and, to successfully re-engage in civilian life when their service is over.

TERM LIMITS
I believe if Republican and Democrat voters can agree on one thing, it’s term limits for congress.

According to termlimits.com, a quarter of Congress has been in office for more than 16 years. Nearly half of Congress has been in office for more than eight. Nine members have been in office for more than 40 years.

Great people, with great ideas in our states and districts, are essentially blocked from serving in Congress by entrenched politicians, and an elite ruling class. This means a slow and agonizing process for Congress to get an infusion of new talent and ideas. We have to drain the Washington swamp and defeat the deep state establishment bureaucracy.

I believe term limits will increase diversity of people and ideas and have a positive, meaningful impact and ensure America’s continued greatness.

When you send me to Congress, I will fight to impose term limits on Congress. The US Senate should be limited to two terms (12 years), and The House of Representatives should be limited to six terms (12 years). When you send me to Congress, I will only serve a maximum of six terms.[2]

HEALTHCARE

I believe the biggest problem with our healthcare system is government involvement.

IMMIGRATION

I believe we need safe, legal, and controlled, immigration into the US. A safe and secure border is part of our national security. Safe and secure countries need strong borders.

Our southern border is a dangerous, chaotic crisis. The crisis at our border started when Joe Biden took office and shows no signs of slowing down. Illegal entries into our county through the southern border are increasing every month.

There are an estimated 10.5 million illegal immigrants living in the US. In 2021, there were an estimated 1.6 million illegal border crossing at our southern border. Most of these people are good people who want a better life for themselves and their families. We welcome them. However, everyone knows there are an alarming number of illegal immigrants who are violent criminals. While those violent criminals commit some violent crimes against natural born citizens, most of their crimes are against immigrants from the same countries.

Sadly, the most danger comes from the human trafficking to the good people who want to come here. Many of those victims are women and children.

Illegal immigration takes jobs from American citizens, costs billions of dollars in additional welfare spending, is dangerous for our Border Patrol Agents and our citizens, and enriches the cartels in Mexico and South America. It is clear the democrats and Joe Biden have no intention of securing our southern border.

When I am in the US Senate, I will fight to ensure Joe Biden does his job and fully executes all of our immigration laws and secures our southern border. I will fight for a border wall. I will fight to deport the violent illegals who Joe Biden let into our country.

EDUCATION

I believe the proper education of our children is the single most important thing we can do to ensure the long-term survival and yes, dominance of America on the world stage.

Being a teacher is hard. It’s hard work that largely goes without thanks and recognition. The majority of our teachers do a great job. They want the best for our kids. Many teachers are parents too.
