John Uxer Jr. is a member of the El Paso Community College Board of Trustees in Texas, representing District 1. Uxer assumed office in 2015. Uxer's current term ends in 2029.

Uxer won re-election to the El Paso Community College Board of Trustees to represent District 1 in Texas outright after the general election on May 6, 2023, was canceled.

Uxer was appointed by the board of trustees in 2015 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of his father, John E. Uxer. Uxer won a full term in the runoff election on June 10, 2017.[1]

Uxer attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and earned a B.S. in physics, a B.S. in mathematics, an M.S. in mechanical engineering, and an M.A. in educational administration from New Mexico State University.[2]

Uxer's professional experience includes work as the vice president of engineering for PointLogic Energy and an engineer for the Ford Motor Company, the Exxon Company USA, the Kerr-McGee Corporation, the El Paso Natural Gas Company, and Lippman Consulting. He has also taught for the Ysleta Independent School District, El Paso Community College, the University of Texas at El Paso, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.[2]

The general election was canceled. John Uxer Jr. (Nonpartisan) won without appearing on the ballot.

2017

El Paso County, Texas, held a general election for the District 1 and 7 seats on the community college board of trustees on May 6, 2017. A runoff election in District 1 was scheduled for June 10, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was February 17, 2017. Incumbent John Uxer Jr. defeated Denise Razo in the runoff election for the District 1 seat on the El Paso Community College Board of Trustees.[3]

Incumbent John Uxer Jr. and Denise Razo defeated Constance Reuschlein in the general election for the District 1 seat on the El Paso Community College Board of Trustees.[3]

2017

Uxer told the El Paso Times that he supported a bond to supplement the cost of planned additions to El Paso Community College campuses. He said, "President (William) Serrata has been very clear that (in 2019) we would need to go out to the community and inform them of what we have and this is what we have done on our own. If I'm not mistaken, this will be only the second bond issue that has gone out for general obligation in the 50 years the community college has been in existence."[4]
