Dawkins defeated Brian Kent and Lois Kirby in the May 4 Republican primary. He was defeated in the November 2, 2010 general election by Diane Parfitt (D).[1][2]

A small business owner for over 30 years, sold my businesses, now a Health Insurance Benefits Consultant for EbenConcepts. Have served as Chairman of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and the Military Affairs Council, served on FTCC Foundation board, Fayetteville State University Foundation board, Snyder Memorial Baptist Church Deacon board, numerous civic club boards, non-profits and charities. Focused on growing the economy of Fayetteville to benefit all of our citizens. Have served two terms on City Council, unopposed for my third term on Council. Recently elected to the Board of Directors of the NC League of Municipalities. Serve on the Board of Advisors of the Duke Univ Medical Center's Brain Tumor Board, since my daughter is a 25+ year cancer survivor. Created the Brian Piccolo Fund Drive for Cancer Research, while a student at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.

Stormwater Drainage Assistance Program: I am Chair of the Mayor's Stormwater Committee, and led the charge to enact a first of its kind in NC drainage assistance program. I served on the Unified Development Ordinance Task Force as a Liaison, and continue to find ways to assist our citizens to be able to develop their own properties.
We affect the citizen at the local level, which is the most personal, closest level a citizen can be affected. Our decisions affect our citizens personally.

My early years were spent reading the Bible, and praying. I try to pray each and every day for guidance and wisdom. I read a lot. All leaders need to be readers, they must continue to inform themselves on every issue confronting them. I continue to marvel at the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution of the United States.
To be willing to speak the truth, even when others do not want to hear it or understand it. To be willing to be a Visionary to determine the best future for the city.
A willingness to Listen, and a willingness to always be prepared.
A lifelong commitment to learning, and a knowledge to know there are many sides to an issue.
A person who cared, who tried to improve his city in the limited time he was allowed.
Cutting grass in the neighborhood, and cut my own grass and neighbors for over 38 years. Sold books door-to-door in Kansas, while in college.
The Five Fingers. A fictional book about a Special Forces team, stuck behind enemy lines in North Vietnam. It is based on a true story.
I constantly have to watch what I eat. If it tastes good, I probably should not eat it!
A willingness to Listen to the citizens at all times, and a commitment to constant, never-ending study and learning.
