Turner (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Kentucky State Senate to represent District 29. He lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Turner is a former Minority Caucus Leader.
Biography
Johnny Ray Turner was born in Prestonburg, Kentucky. He earned a bachelor of arts and a master's degree from Morehead State University. Turner's career experience includes working as a teacher, a coach, and as a dean of students.[1]

Turner won re-election in the 2012 election for Kentucky State Senate District 29. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 22, 2012, and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Turner was re-elected to the 29th District Seat in the Kentucky State Senate. He had no opposition.[7] Turner raised $182,782 for his campaign.[8]
