Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Tacherra's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Agriculture and Water: Our way of life is under attack by extremist anti-farmer special interests in both Sacramento and Washington. We need water storage and an understanding that farmers are the true environmentalists in this situation.
  • Immigration: We must reform our immigration system. We need to secure the safety of Americans first and fix our broken Visa system where many overstay and are unaccounted for.
  • Trade: The current trade deals are not serving our middle class families and when combined with excessive regulation from Washington is killing good paying jobs.
  • Healthcare: I will support repealing Obamacare. The cost and deception used to implement this disaster has been rejected by American voters resoundingly.
  • Defense: We must be very cautious with American lives right now in the Middle East. It has gotten considerably more hostile and unstable. Defending and supporting our allies is critical and we must be well armed to do it with modern weaponry and necessary investments in technologies.[9]

2014

Tacherra's campaign website listed the following issues:[10]

  • Healthcare: "Jim Costa must be held responsible for the failure of ObamaCare as the Congressman who cast the deciding vote against the wishes of the Central Valley’s residents. Poor planning and implementation of ObamaCare is costing millions of Americans their health insurance, raising rates and costing jobs."
  • Tax Rates: "When the I.R.S. is not abusing political opponents of Barack Obama with audits and intimidation, it is damaging job growth and our economy. I favor a national flat tax with minimal deductions for politically connected contributors to unleash capitalism on our failing economy and create good paying jobs again."
  • Illegal Immigration: "I fully support policies that will keep families together and secure our border but amnesty for millions is not a solution and will cost trillions of dollars. There must be incremental reform that recognizes we are a beacon of freedom for people savaged by repression (Cambodia and Cuba come to mind), not just difficult economic circumstances."
  • Second Amendment: "I will always be a loud voice in support of protecting our rights to keep and bear arms. I will be a thorn in the side of those like Nancy Pelosi and Jim Costa who want to take our guns and freedoms away."
  • Environmental Protection: "We must protect our farmland and all the environmental benefits it creates for our Central Valley way of life. I will support limiting pollution from big cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles instead of targeting Central Valley farmers. The current system is broken by big city liberal bureaucrats who create the pollution and then look to attack us when they feel guilty about it."[9]
