My name is Dr. Jon Hill and I believe in people, communities, and New Mexico. I will give voice and vote to a humane, progressive agenda in District 53. In my over 40 year career I have held many public offices, served as a teacher, program specialist, principal, special educator, and superintendent. I spent 17 years as an advocate and subject matter expert to legislature and successfully advocated for permanent funding for rural and small schools/Districts.
  • Support Structured Literacy Institute that builds and sustains improved instruction and collaborate with local school districts to better link local needs with state resources.
  • Support Environmental Rights Amendment also known as the Green Amendment, including reasonable and responsible roll-out plans with all earth-friendly legislation.
  • Support key labor initiatives including internships and apprenticeships that lead our workforce into the future, well promoting state services and programs needed in District 53.
As a career educator I hold educational issues close to heart, as well as important ethics concerns and listening to the people of district 53.
It is important for elected officials to be systems oriented, a high energy leader, and to have a high ethical standing.
I am a high energy, performance driven leader with a systems perspective.
The core responsibilities for any member of any state legislature is to effectively represent their constituents, and to prioritize the well being and interests of the communities they represent.
I previously Chaired the Oregon State Bar committee on judiciary evaluations, and served as a public representative on the bar of governors.
