My wife and I have been residents and taxpayers in Hilliard for 26 years, and we’re the proud parents of two graduates of Hilliard Schools. My engagement and record of volunteering with the district are lengthy and go back many years. I’ve attended Board of Education meetings for three years, voted in every school board race and levy for 22 years, and volunteered with a variety of organizations benefiting students and the district including multiple PTO’s, Band Booster events and fundraisers, and levy campaigns. For the past 10 years, I’ve served as a Board Trustee of the Hilliard Education Foundation. The Foundation awards much needed grants for innovative learning opportunities, and scholarships to recent graduates of Hilliard Schools. I’ve served in several key leadership positions with the Foundation, including President and Vice President, and chaired several committees. As an educator with nearly 30 years experience, I bring valuable background and perspective no other candidate can offer. I see firsthand the powerful impact Board of Education decisions and policies have on student success and understand how to put policy into practice.
  • Sustainable Funding - In Ohio, most educational funding comes from residential property owners. I will work to promote commercial growth to help make funding more equitable.
  • Responsible Development - Approximately 45% of all land in Hilliard is undeveloped. I will ensure growth benefits everyone, not just developers, and will insist resident voices are heard during decisions that impact our schools.
  • Improve Student Achievement - Hilliard Schools is among the highest performing districts in Ohio, but there's always room for improvement. I will partner with all stakeholders to improve Graduation Rates, 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee, College and Career readiness, and ensure all students have the support they need to be successful.
I’m committed to improving my community and I’m passionate about education. Our community needs, and our students deserve longtime engaged, experienced, fully committed leaders serving on our school board.

The Hilliard City School District serves all of Hilliard, and portions of Columbus, Dublin, and five townships. As these communities continue to grow, so too does the number of students it educates, and the amount of services the district provides. As a recently appointed member to the Hilliard By Design Comprehensive Plan Update Steering Committee, I hope to raise awareness about the important relationship between the city and our schools, and will advocate for opportunities that mutually benefit both groups. As a member of the Hilliard Board of Education, I will listen to our community and base my decisions on what’s in the best interest of students. I will scrutinize expenditures to ensure taxpayer funds are responsibly utilized. And I will enact policies that promote a safe and nurturing teaching and learning environment.

I'm committed to my community and want to ensure all students earn the best education possible. I've been a Hilliard homeowner and taxpayer for nearly 25 years. As a parent of a recent Hilliard graduate and a current high school senior, I'm impressed with the high quality education provided by Hilliard Schools. I'm a longtime active community volunteer with a strong record of service benefiting the entire school district. Currently, I serve as a Board Trustee and past president of the Hilliard Education Foundation. As a teacher in neighboring Upper Arlington with nearly 30 years experience, I know firsthand the complexities of public education. I'm highly qualified and fully committed to responsibly representing and serving the Hilliard Schools community.
The single most important issue for the Hilliard City School District is meeting the ever-changing needs of our students, especially as related to the anticipated growth of the community. HCSD leadership must prioritize their efforts to carefully and meaningfully plan for increased enrollment at all age levels, especially the elementary level where the most growth is anticipated.

My second priority is to secure stable funding for our schools and demonstrate responsible stewardship of taxpayers' investments. For both issues, I will partner with our community, governmental agencies, elected officials, and all stakeholders to promote unity and understanding that ensure our students receive the best education possible. This includes expanding student opportunities, promoting excellent communication, and fostering strong relationships with our teachers and staff to ensure they have the support they need in order to best educate the whole child.
Highly effective School Boards set vision and policy that convey the sentiments and expectations of the community in which they live, which inform the Superintend's efforts in guiding students toward success. This is the result of entrusting, challenging, and empowering Superintendents to execute the duties of their office by providing them with support, guidance, and supervision.

Board membership requires commitment, the capacity to interact well with a variety of perspectives, the willingness to consider all available information before acting, and the ability to collaborate with others to build consensus and solutions. In addition to already possessing these attributes, my experience, dedication, and professional qualifications make me an ideal candidate for Hilliard City School Board.
