Jon Thorup (Republican Party) is running for election to the Iowa State Senate to represent District 11. He declared candidacy for the Republican primary scheduled on June 2, 2026.[source]

Thorup (Republican Party) was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 28. He assumed office on January 1, 2019. He left office on January 1, 2023.

Biography

Jon Thorup was born in Knoxville, Iowa. He graduated from Knoxville High School. He attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and became a state police officer and then a road trooper. He volunteered as a firefighter and transferred to the State Fire Marshall. He has been a member of the board for the State Patrol Officers Council and the Iowa State Troopers Association.[1]
