Candidate Connection

Jonah Seth Eisenberg participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on March 8, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Jonah Seth Eisenberg's responses follow below.[1]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Community, getting parents involved in their child's education

2) Common, end the constant testing, give teachers a bigger say in whats taught in their classrooms.
3) Security, take steps to secure our schools, more SRO, more cameras connected directly to local police departments etc[2][3]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

That 11000 students in Frederick county between 3rd and 11th grade can't read to level or can't read at all. That's something we all should be ashamed of and being doing e everything we can do to correct it.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[3]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Jonah Seth Eisenberg answered the following:

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

My mom, she passed away 5 years ago from cancer. She never let it get her down and she stayed a rock until the very end. She taught me to stand up for whats right and be man enough to admit when your wrong.[3]
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Integrity, honesty and humbleness.[3]
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
Integrity, honesty, humbleness and empathy.[3]
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To be an advocate for the students, parents and teachers and to uphold the integrity and honor of the office they hold.[3]
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
Bag boy at a grocery store, about 2 years.[3]
What is the primary job of a school board member in your view?
To stand up for the students and do whats in their best interest at all times.[3]
How would you support the diverse needs of your district’s students, faculty, staff, and community?
By asking questions and listening to their responses and working with everyone to attain the best possible outcome.[3]
What will you do to build a better relationship with parents in the district? What plans do you have to be inclusive of parental involvement?
By letting parents have more say in their child's education. Addressing their issues in a timely manner. The best way to include the parents is to ask for their opinions when deciding policies.[3]
What principles drive your policies for safety in schools?
Security in schools must not affect the learning environment, schoos aren't prisions. The school should be a place were the students and faculty feel safe.[3]

Eisenberg also stated the following about his political philosophy in a biographical submission to Ballotpedia:[4]

To be a voice for our community; to bring that passion before others to create fresh, new, innovative and fair ways to come up with solutions for our greatest asset to our future; our children.

I am a man who intends to stand strong in my commitment to the betterment of policy regarding safety and security of not only specific populations of the student body, but by working together with members of this community, create and/or improve policies to ensure that ALL of our children are safe, feel safe, secure, loved, educated and heard in a fair and reasonable manner.
