I'm a father of seven and a grandfather of seven and I'm worried about their futures. Our society has become so dependent on government that too often people look to it to solve their problems. We face economic problems. We face crime problems. We face a lack of trust in our education system. For that matter, we face a general lack of trust in many of our institutions. It's time to turn this trend around. It's time for the government to do what we have a right to expect it to do. Establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. This section of the preamble of the United States Constitution provides a litmus test for our elected officials. When we see what is happening in our state right now, we know that they are failing in this duty. I'm running to restore faith in the future.
  • Protect families from bad economic policies.
  • Protect families from bad crime policies.
  • Protect families from bad education policies.
All legislation must be measured for its impact on the family. Governmental harm to the family must be eliminated and prevented. The government's role is to create a framework in which we as citizens may interact with one another reasonably expecting our rights to be respected and protected. When the government acts beyond this role people are harmed either by their rights being reduced or their liberty being reduced. It is my goal to reduce legislation to this framework. My goal is to simplify life for families. My goal is to reduce the dependence on the government.
I remember being enthralled with the moon landing. My family had a black and white television. I was six years old at the time and don't remember much other than everyone in the family watching Walter Cronkite. Walter Cronkite really was the most trusted man in America then.
I am not interested in running for any other office in the future. That may change, but I believe in getting a job done and going home.
