Jonathan Bing is a former Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 73 from 2003 to 2011. He resigned in 2011 to serve as special deputy superintendent of the New York Liquidation Bureau.[1] A special election to replace him was held on September 13, 2011.

Bing's other political experiences include committeeman for New York Democratic State Party, 73rd Assembly District and member of Manhattan Community Board 6.

Biography

Bing earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the New York University School of Law. His professional experience includes being an attorney with Torys Limited Liability Practice; New York coordinator for Federal emergency management agency, the American Bar Association's Disaster Legal Services; and as a law clerk for United States District Court Judge Bruce Van Sickle.[2]

Bing defeated Gregory Lundahl in the September 14 Democratic primary, but Lundahl secured the nomination of the Working Families Party. Bing defeated Paul Niehaus (R) and Gregory Lundahl (WF) in the general election on November 2.[3]

On November 4, 2008, Bing won re-election to the New York State Assembly, District 73, defeating opponent David Casavis (R).

Bing raised $329,216 for his campaign while Casavis raised $620.[4]
