My name is Jon Gray. I have lived in Aurora Ward 4 for over 17 years. I am a

husband and father of two daughters. I am a former preschool teacher for Aurora Public Schools. I work for Arapahoe County DHS and genuinely care for the people in my community. I am running because I am a black male who understands the struggles and needs of working families. I believe our community leaders can do better, and I am tired of the political status quo. My hope is for the City of Aurora to establish a true representative democracy that reflects the

values and perspectives of its community members.
  • Improve Public Safety - specifically in the areas of car theft, gunshots and traffic through equitable, root cause solutions.
  • Increase the minimum wage from $13.65 to at least $17.29
  • Expand Utah Park- Make Utah Park a full-service recreation center
The top three challenges Aurora is facing are Affordable housing, Crime, and Homelessness. However, the top three priorities in my Ward, which is my focus are Public Safety, costs of living, and making sure our youth have access to spaces and places to keep them off the street after hours and during the Summer and Winter breaks.

a. Public Safety- It is imperative that we put safety first. One of the biggest issues in my Ward is crime (car theft and gunshots) and traffic fatalities. Last year, there were 50 traffic fatalities in total. As of mid-September 2023, there have been approximately 46 traffic-related fatalities in the city of Aurora. My priority is to ensure we slow speeds on some of our arterial roads (Peoria, Buckley, and Chambers primarily) and install traffic calming measures in residential areas with high traffic incident rates.

b. Increase Wages- Increase the minimum wage from $13.65 to at least $17.29 to keep up with the Denver minimum wage. It is my goal to see to it that those who live in Aurora also desire to work in Aurora.

c. Expand Utah Park- Make Utah Park a full-service recreation center. Ward 4 does not have a recreation center.
