Jonathan Harris (b. April 12, 1964) is a former Democratic member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 5 from 2005 to 2011. He served as Chief Assistant Majority Leader during his final term. He was a candidate for Connecticut Secretary of State in the 2010 election. Harris announced in June 2010 that he was dropping out of the race, even though he qualified for the primary.[1]

Harris ran for governor of Connecticut in 2018. He suspended his campaign on April 27, 2018.[2]

Harris was Mayor of West Hartford and served on the West Hartford Town Council from 2001 to 2004.

Harris earned his B.A. from Brandeis University in 1986 and his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1990. His professional experience includes working as a Legislative Aide for Congresswoman Barbara Kennelly, attorney for Slavitt, Connery and Vardamis from 1992 to 1994 and Hebb and Gitlin from 1994 to 1997, self-employed political consultant for 2 statewide campaigns from 1997 to 1998, Counsel for the Democratic Caucus of the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1999 to 2000 and attorney for London and London.

On February 24, 2018, Harris declared that he would run for governor of Connecticut in 2018.[3] He suspended his campaign on April 27, 2018.[4]

Endorsements

2010

Harris was a candidate for Connecticut Secretary of State in the 2010 election. Harris announced in June 2010 that he was dropping of the race, even though he qualified for the primary.[1]

2008

On November 4, 2008, Harris won re-election to the 5th District Seat in the Connecticut State Senate, defeating Joseph Merritt (R).[18]
