Campaign themes

2014

Lochman's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

Working Wage

  • Excerpt: "I will support raising the working wage to raise the Southside out of poverty!"

Healthcare

  • Excerpt: "We need to reduce the premiums and deductibles for everyone. I have seen, first-hand, the effects of the latest healthcare reform act and premiums and deductibles have risen tremendously. I intend to reverse this trend and lead a charge to reduce the overall cost to the individuals and their families."

Veteran Affairs

  • Excerpt: "We need to develop more programs to assist Veterans of all ages and reduce the wait times for receiving earned benefits and medical attention. I waited over a year to be processed through the VA system and I find this to be extreme and UN-AMERICAN. This has to stop!"

Education Reform

  • Excerpt: "I believe education is the key to rising out of poverty. America’s best educational value in the country is early literacy programs, online learning, student assessments, and pay and leadership opportunities for teachers."

Fiscal Responsibility/Tax Relief

  • Excerpt: "Support a balanced budget and energize growth -- $400+ million in property tax relief to homeowners; 40% tax reduction for small business, and capping tax growth at 2% annually for agricultural and residential property."
