Campaign themes
2014
Ruth's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Standing up for Public Education
- Excerpt: "We need a state representative who will stand up and fight for our students, and I pledge to do that if elected."
Protecting our Environment and Fixing the Gas Problem
- Excerpt: "I believe that Governor Corbett and the Republicans failed an opportunity to handle gas drilling responsibly while finding a source of income from these gas companies, and I support a severance tax which will allow our communities, and particularly our education system, to benefit from this natural resource. We also need to properly fund EPA efforts to make sure that drilling is done safely, so that no further damage is done to our environment."
Improving our Infrastructure
- Excerpt: "A real plan to fix our roads would not only solve this problem, but would create jobs and put Pennsylvanians back to work. As your representative, I would support common sense plans to improve our infrastructure - this cannot be neglected!"
Working to Create Jobs
- Excerpt: "If elected, I intend to work with our new Governor to bring manufacturing jobs back to Pennsylvania, invest in innovation, technology, and clean energy to build a 21st century workforce, and invest in infrastructure to create diverse and lasting jobs for Pennsylvanians."
Fighting Poverty
- Excerpt: "As a state representative, I will advocate for the poor, for access to high-quality affordable healthcare for all."
