Craighead's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[4]
Controlling State Spending
- Excerpt: "As your next state senator, Joni Craighead will fight the liberal special interests and prioritize our needs, not the special interest wants."
Taxes
- Excerpt: "Nebraska is a high tax state. If we want to attract more businesses, quality jobs and employees we must work to reduce the tax burden on our families and businesses. By growing our tax base, we can work to reduce the tax burden."
Education
- Excerpt: "Joni Craighead opposes the Obama Common Core education movement. As your state senator she will do everything she can to fight this type of Federal Government overreach."
Jobs
- Excerpt: "We must reduce Nebraska’s tax burden in order to compete for business and the quality jobs that come with them. Reducing our taxes is priority #1 for Joni Craighead."
Healthcare
- Excerpt: "Joni Craighead opposes the Medicaid expansion Obamacare supporters are trying to force on Nebraskans. Expanding Medicaid will cost Nebraska taxpayers millions of dollars. In order to pay for this expansion the state would either have to make dramatic cuts to vital services like education and roads maintenance. It would also likely lead to higher taxes. Nebraska cannot afford this liberal experiment."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
