An effort to recall City Councilman Jordan Brandman in Anaheim, California ended after he resigned on August 5, 2021.[1]
Former Councilwoman Denise Barnes initiated the recall after an Orange County political blog posted text messages that Brandman had sent about Barnes in February 2020. Brandman later apologized for the messages.[1]

Former Councilwoman Denise Barnes led the recall effort.[2] The recall centered around text messages that Brandman sent about Barnes, which can be found here. About the texts, Barnes said, "Public figures do not speak in that language, ever. It’s just over-the-top egregious."[2]
Barnes also cited Brandman's support for selling Angel Stadium and his vote against instituting rent control for seniors living in Anaheim mobile homes as reasons for the recall campaign.[2]

In a June 22 city council meeting, Brandman apologized for the text messages, saying, "I am ashamed that those words were uttered by any human being, and I have been working very hard to make sure that I conduct myself benevolently and with honor, and I hope to earn back the trust and confidence of those who I also respect and love in this community."[2]
