An effort in Salinas, California, to recall councilmember José Castañeda from his position was launched in July 2015.[1] Castañeda faced three other recall attempts between 2013 and 2015. Recall supporters
Castañeda was targeted for recall by resident Juan Sandoval, who said, "I think the whole city has had a belly full of him. He’s being censured by his own colleagues and he is the target of a grand jury report. I mean seriously, enough is enough. He’s got to go."[1] Castañeda was officially censured on August 19, 2015.[2]
