Jose Gonzalez, currently serving as the Vice Mayor for the City of Cudahy, has earned a solid reputation as a growth-focused professional with a proven capacity to lead many large and small organizations to success. Mr. Gonzalez brings a talent for spearheading special projects and service management functions and a history of empowering teams to exceed ambitious objectives. Over the course of his career, he has demonstrated an innate ability to deliver exemplary customer support to our residents while tracking progress through key performance indicators (KPI’s) and advising city personnel. He credits gaining valuable experience in his career to his tenure working his way up ranks as a union member in a variety of unions, including California School Employees Association (CSEA), Teamsters, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and Associated Administrators of Los Angeles (AALA) at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

Mr. Gonzalez has served on the Cudahy City Council since 2018. In 2019, he was appointed as Mayor where he spearheaded the City’s two-year strategic plan, which prioritized streamlining government processes, bringing innovation to city hall, and emphasizing a friendly customer service-oriented staff. As the City is undergoing current negotiations for development projects, Mr. Gonzalez is strongly considering the need to incorporate PLAs as part of Development Agreements. In his tenure on the City Council, the need for a stronger and updated water infrastructure has stood out. He recognizes the importance of ensuring residents have quality and clean water. He understand that the future of Cudahy lies in the water it provides it residents. Therefore, he is determined to initiate a process that will guarantee accountability and transparency for water districts. Additionally, he believes that protecting and providing workers livable wages and benefits is essential for workers and members of this community. He always keeps close to heart what the unions have taught him and the support they provided throughout his career. He hopes to pay it forward as he appreciates the union’s hard work and dedication in protecting their members, and in providing quality results.
