Josefina "Josie" Tamayo was a judge on the Second Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist on September 2, 2010 to succeed Kathleen F. Dekker. She was defeated in her 2012 bid for re-election and she left the court at the end of her term in January of 2013.[1][2][3][4]

Tamayo received her undergraduate degree from Emory University and her J.D. from Georgia State University.[1]

2012 election

Tamayo received 29.5% of the vote in the primary on Aug. 14, 2012. She was defeated by Barbara Hobbs in the general election on Nov. 6, 2012, receiving 45.7% of the vote.[7][4][8][9][10]
