The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was May 28, 2014. Representative Lupe Contreras defeated Angela Cotera in the Democratic primary. Joseph "Joe" Hobbs was unopposed in the Republican primary. Contreras defeated Hobbs in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
