Who I Am

My name is Joe Imbriale, and I’ve called Hobbs home for the past 15 years. I’m a small business owner, husband, and community member who believes in giving back to the town that has given me so much.

I own Rig Outfitters & Home Store and Scrub Outfitters, two locally grown businesses that have continued to expand thanks to the support of our community. Before starting my own companies, I worked as a Project Manager for a major national retailer, where I was responsible for identifying and developing new store locations across the country. That experience taught me exactly what it takes to attract new businesses to a city — and it’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about making Hobbs more business-friendly.

Over the years, I’ve talked to thousands of people who come through my stores every week. Those conversations have shown me how frustrated many residents are with rising crime, lack of transparency, and limited retail growth. I’ve been blessed with success, but I want to use that experience to make a difference for everyone in Hobbs.

I never planned to enter politics, but after years of hearing “that’s just the way it is,” I decided to step up and fight for change. I care deeply about this community, and I want to make Hobbs a safer, stronger, and more transparent place for all of us.
  • Safety First: The safety of our families and neighborhoods must be the top priority. I will focus on reducing crime and making Hobbs a safer place to live and work.
  • Smart Growth & Business-Friendly Policies: As a business owner and former project manager, I understand what it takes to attract and grow new businesses. Hobbs needs fewer barriers and more incentives to bring in retail stores and jobs.
  • Transparency & Accountability: I believe in open communication and honesty in local government. Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being used, and I’ll make sure decisions are made openly and in the best interest of the community.
I’m passionate about improving public safety, supporting local business growth, and bringing transparency back to city government. The safety of our families and neighborhoods must be the top priority, and our leaders need to take real action to reduce crime. As a business owner and former project manager, I’ve seen how hard it is for new businesses to open here. I want to make Hobbs more welcoming to growth and opportunity. I also believe taxpayers deserve honesty and accountability in how their money is spent.
All 3 of my older brothers. They all played sports and were always practicing and very succesful in any sports they played.
I believe the most important characteristics for any elected official are transparency, honesty, and accountability. Leaders should be open about the decisions they make and explain why they’re making them. They must also be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, treating public money with the same care and responsibility as their own. Most of all, elected officials should listen to the people they represent and always put the community’s best interest first.
The core responsibility of anyone elected to serve as Mayor is to take care of the community’s needs and ensure the safety of its residents. An effective Mayor should focus on keeping neighborhoods safe, maintaining the city’s infrastructure, supporting local businesses, and addressing issues that directly impact quality of life. Above all, the Mayor must listen to the people and make decisions that put the community first.
That I was able to mentor the younger generation. To prepare them for life in general. To steer them from the mistakes I made when I was their age.

One of my biggest struggles in life was wanting to own my own business but not having the opportunity to make it happen until later in life. It took years of hard work, patience, and faith to finally reach that goal in my 50s. There were times I doubted it would ever happen, but I never gave up. That experience taught me perseverance, faith, and that it’s never too late to chase your dreams — lessons I carry with me every day.
To me, being a leader means always maintaining integrity and earning the trust of the people you serve. As Mayor, the community should never have to question my decisions or my intentions. Leadership is about setting an example, listening to others, and doing what’s right even when it’s not easy. My goal is simple — to make Hobbs a better place than it was the day I was elected.
The Mayor’s top priority should be building teamwork and unity among the City Council, City Manager, and community. When everyone works together and communicates openly, the city runs more efficiently and decisions are made in the best interest of the people. I believe in listening to everyone’s input, respecting different viewpoints, and keeping everyone on the same page to move Hobbs forward as one team.
The people in the community.
The ideal relationship between the city and the state government should be one of teamwork and open communication. Local leaders need to work closely with our state legislators to push for laws that truly protect our communities. I believe we need tougher penalties for criminals and to end the catch-and-release approach that hurts public safety. By working together, we can make Hobbs and all of New Mexico safer and stronger.
The Mayor’s office should have a strong, supportive, and transparent relationship with law enforcement. I believe in fully supporting our officers and giving them the resources they need to keep our community safe. At the same time, accountability is just as important. If wrongdoing occurs, it should be addressed openly and honestly — not swept under the rug. Trust between the community, law enforcement, and city leadership is built through honesty and responsibility on all sides.
Having 2 very succesful businesses.
