Joseph E. Brooks (b. February 24, 1942) is a former unenrolled member of the Maine House of Representatives, representing District 42 from 2012 to 2014.

Elections for the Maine House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 10, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for party candidates wishing to run in this election was March 17, 2014. The deadline for write-in candidates to run in the primary election was April 28, 2014, and the deadline for non-party candidates to run in the general election was June 2, 2014. The deadline for write-in candidates to run in the general election was September 22, 2014. District 41 incumbent James Gillway was unopposed in the Republican primary. District 42 incumbent Joseph Brooks ran for re-election as an unaffiliated candidate. Gillway defeated Brooks in the general election.[1][2][3][4]

Brooks won election in the 2012 election for Maine House of Representatives District 42. He ran as an independent candidate and defeated Leo LaChance (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5]

Brooks' opponents in the November 2 general election were Republican candidate Peter Rioux, and Green candidate Kenneth Cole. Rioux defeated Brooks and Cole in the November 2 general election.[6] Republican incumbent Michael Thibodeau did not run for re-election, although he was eligible to do so under Maine's term limits.
