Joseph Brumbles participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on July 25, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Joseph Brumbles' responses follow below.[1]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | 1.) Fair taxes - balanced budget. 2.) School safety- Our schools. 3.) Our vets - Reform the VA.[2][3] |
” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | Any policy in which we can save lives. I have one bill that I will create, that will easily save over 1 million lives, within 10 years.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[3]
|
” |
Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Joseph Brumbles answered the following:
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow and why?
“ | Ted Cruz, Rand Paul. I want to directly attack issues like they do, in positive ways. I want to hold people accountable as they do, even other politicians. I want to be a thorough representative in all that I do. I want to serve "WeThePeople" not the establishment.[3] | ” |
“ | Honesty, Integrity, a passion to serve the people. Humbility, Leadership skills, positive ambition, and much more.[3] | ” |
“ | Included but not limited to: Over 13 years of leadership and management skills. Most currently, I have managed a business with 27 employees and over $10 million per year in revenue. Vast knowledge on working with different personalities. I am a single father and have experienced the family court system, which can help to reform said system. I have the skills and ambitions/drive to go to DC and hit home runs for "We The People". I believe in truth in politics, and upholding my oath of office. I am running to stand up for "WeThePeople".[3] | ” |
“ | To be a servent of the people. To uphold the constitution and Liberty. To adhere to the oath of office, and obviously much more.[3] | ” |
“ | I would like to be the representative for all people. I would like to be part of many committees, as well as a leader of different committees. I would like to leave the legacy of being the people's champion in DC. I want to pass legislation that saves lives. I want to reform the federal government back to a smaller level, as it is intended to be.[3] | ” |
“ | My first job was for my grandfather at 14 years old doing dry wall. I had it for the summer. My next job was a clerk at vons grocery. I had that job for about 2 years. I have been working ever since.[3] | ” |
“ | One time in my high school years, I had a double date with my best friend. My date liked him better, which hadn't happened before. This was definitely an odd and humbling experience. I must mention however, that luckily that was the only time that happened.[3] | ” |
“ | To be honest my favorite holiday is Independence Day. I have always been a true patriot of our country.[3] | ” |
“ | Hard to choose a favorite. I like books on leadership and being a leader.[3] | ” |
“ | Batman, I am a single father and my kids insisted that I was batman for the longest time. I guess it just sort of stuck. Also batman helps the people with no vanity. People don't even know who he is, he gets zero credit for his service. That works with me.[3] | ” |
“ | My daughters. They mean everything to me and are a huge reason as to why I am running. I want to help to protect their futures in our country.[3] | ” |
“ | I am unsure however I like most genres. My favorite being country music.[3] | ” |
“ | Life in general. I grew up with just my mother in Las Vegas NV. I didn't meet my father until 16 years old and not again until 28yrs old. Nothing in life was handed to me, I've had to fight for most everything that I have ever had. At 18yrs old I went out and earned my first good paying job, at 78k per year. I payed my own way through school and haven't looked back.[3] | ” |
“ | The ability to save and also to greatly improve lives.[3] | ” |
“ | Politics yes, government not necessarily. I come from a long background of being a true business leader. I have dealt with corporate and team level politics everyday, for over 13 years. I have the skills to do the job, However I have not been in government as of yet. That being said, I look forward to serving the people.[3] | ” |
“ | We are in a time of misinformation and division. I believe we need to focus on each others similarities and have discussions. Then work our way outwards from there, into the harder topics. We are all Americans and need to Unite as Americans. As sad as it is to say, I believe that this will continue to be a challenge, as well as communication. However we need to focus on these things. Also accountability of our officials, as well as others.[3] | ” |
“ | Agriculture, Budget, Ethics, Energy and Commerce. These would be the main committees, however I am interested in any and all committees. I would like to be a committee leader as well.[3] | ” |
“ | I believe that it helps to keep the people in control. This is a necessary situation.[3] | ” |
“ | I am okay with term limits, However, I think that we should really focus on getting "big money" lobbying out of our system.[3] | ” |
“ | Definitely NOT gerrymandering.[3] | ” |
“ | Yes, it is in my nature to be a leader. To the highest extent possible. However I will always adhere to the constitution and my oath of office.[3] | ” |
“ | I have been a passionate supporter of a local nonprofit called "A Hero's Promise." They are a veteran nonprofit and they help veterans and their families. I connected very well with their stories on what led them to where they are now. I would like to work with these kinds of veterans to help more veterans. They have inspired me even further.[3] | ” |
