Noteworthy events

Admonished for misconduct (2016)

The California Commission on Judicial Performance publicly admonished Judge Joseph Bergeron for failing "to maintain high standards of conduct" during three occasions in 2014. According to the commission, Bergeron threw a crumpled calendar at a female clerk's chest twice on August 28, had a phone call on October 7 complaining about a clerk to her supervisor in which he was speaking loud enough for the clerk and others to hear, and suggesting that a female deputy district attorney get him a coffee.[4]

The commission mentioned that Bergeron had been given a warning by the presiding judge in 2013 after female employees said that the judge treated them "in a rude, abrasive and condescending manner." Bergeron was also privately admonished by the commission in 2014. After a male attorney had grabbed a female clerk's arm, the judge held a hearing on the matter that the commission found to be improper.[4]
