Joseph Ellis
Joseph M. Ellis was a judge on the Western District of the Missouri Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position in August 1993 and retained by voters in November 1994 and 2006. His last term would have expired in December 2018.[1] Judge Ellis retired in March 2016.[2] He was succeeded by Ted Ardini, appointed by Gov. Jay Nixon (D).
Education
Judge Ellis was born in St. Louis. He received his B.A. degree in history from the University of Missouri at St. Louis and his J.D. from Washington University. He served in the U.S. Air Force for a few years in the Office of Special Investigations and Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He is married and has one daughter.[1]
Career
Judge Ellis began practicing law in Macon in 1972. In 1987, he became a Macon [[Missouri Municipal Courts |Municipal Judge]]. He held this position until 1993, when he was appointed to the Court of Appeals.[1]
