Joseph L. Falvey, Jr. is a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on a voice vote on April 26, 2018.[1] He was nominated by President Donald Trump on January 23, 2018.[2] His 15-year term on the court will end in 2033.

Education

Falvey received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School.[2]

Military service

Falvey retired from the United States Marine Corps as Commander of the Marine Corps’ Reserve Legal Support Section in 2011. He served more than 30 years in the Marine Corps, including 14 years on active duty.[2]

Professional career

Falvey previously served as an appellate judge on the United States Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. He also served as Assistant United States Attorney in the national security unit of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan and as a law professor at two Michigan law schools.[2]
