Joseph Farneti is a judge for the Suffolk County Court in New York. He has served in this position since 1999, following his election. He was re-elected in 2008 to a term ending in 2018. He has also served as an acting justice of the Suffolk County Supreme Court since 2007.[1]
Education
Farneti received his B.A. degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 1979 and his J.D. degree from the Brooklyn Law School in 1982.[1][2]
Career
Farneti began his career in 1982 working for Labor Management Consultants. He also served as the Vice-President of Farneti Associates, Inc. In 1983 and 1984, he served as an Assistant District Attorney of Suffolk County. He then worked as a partner of the law firm of Bandes, Farneti & Byrnes, P.C. from 1985 through 1987. He then served as a principal law clerk to a Judge until 1990, when he returned to the private practice. He worked from 1990 to 1996 as a partner of the law firm of Pachman, Pachman, Brown & Farneti, P.C.
Farneti's judicial career began in 1997 when he was appointed to the Suffolk County District Court. He was then elected to the Suffolk County Court for a term that began in 1999. That year, he also served as an Acting Justice of the Suffolk County Supreme Court. From 2004 to 2006, he was the Presiding Justice of the Integrated Domestic Violence Court. He was then re-appointed Acting Supreme Court Justice in 2007.[1]
