Joseph Grasso
Joseph A. Grasso, Jr. was an associate justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Massachusetts. He was appointed to this position by Governor Paul Cellucci and took the oath of office on January 31, 2001.[1] Grasso retired on January 9, 2015.[2][3]
Education
Grasso earned his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1968 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1973.[1]
Career
Grasso began his legal career as an assistant attorney general. He joined the law firm Herrick & Smith in 1975. He was a partner in the law firm Caffrey & Grasso from 1978 to 1984. After this, he was appointed by Governor Michael Dukakis to the Lowell District Court, where he served as first justice from 1985 to 1993. In 1993, he was appointed to the superior court, where he served until 2001. Justice Grasso has also taught for many years as an adjunct faculty member at Boston University, Northeastern University, Suffolk University, and Massachusetts School of Law.[1]
