Joseph Hale was born and raised in the great city of Lexington, and is a proud resident of District 7. He’s extremely passionate about serving the state of Kentucky, and even more so, serving his community. Joseph has several years working in the fields of government, education, and in tandem within the field of information technology. Joseph is currently the IT Coordinator for the Kentucky Department for Public Health, and served on the Command Staff for the Kentucky Department for Public Health as the Director of Information Technology during the COVID-19 response. Joseph has worked very closely with the heads of State on the COVID-19 Response Team, establishing and setting up the COVID-19 Call Center/Hotline for use by the public, and clinicians for information and updates on COVID-19.

For five years, Joseph has been one of the Leadership Heads as Elder/Pastor and Board Member of The Gate Church in the city of Lexington. He’s a husband, a father, and community leader.

One of Joseph’s honored accomplishments is being the Founder of the “Boys to Men Mentoring Group.” The group meets every 1st Thursday of the month. Boys to Men teaches, and counsels boys from the ages of 12 and up on how to become respectable men in today’s society through sponsorship, practical advice, workshops, and educational trips.
  • I feel that affordable housing is key issue we need to address in our city. Housing prices has skyrocketed in the past few years and residence/ tax payers of our city are having issues finding affordable housing and living above the poverty rate.
  • If we plan to have a bright future, we must sow into the next generation. After school and summer programs for the youth (sponsored by our city) will be something I advocate for as a councilman. As the founder of Boys2Men Mentoring group, I am passionate about teaching and training our next generation how to be stand-up citizens of this great city.
  • Opportunities for small business owners and minority business owners establishing properties in the community will be another issue I address as councilman. I will advocate for residents of district 7 to establish small businesses in the their district.
I am Passionate about:

Affordable Housing
Opportunities for Small Businesses and Minority Business Owners
After School and Summer Programs for Youth
Park Beautification/Renovation in Woodhill and Buckhorn Areas

Public Health
I look up to the woman who raised me, my great-grandmother. She not only raised me and my 3 siblings, but also my mother and aunt when their mother (my grandmother) died of cancer at the age of 22, when my mother and aunt were 5 and 7 years old. She is the true definition of strength. I look up to her and continue to follow in her footsteps. I strive every day that her sacrifice and work not go in vain.
My very first job was Mr. Sparkle Car wash at the age of 14. I worked there for 2 years with my uncle. My goal at the time was to save up to get games for my Sega Genesis (LOL). At that age, I learned the meaning of working for what you want.
