Joseph Maguire
Joseph Maguire is a former acting director of national intelligence (DNI). President Donald Trump (R) appointed him on August 8, 2019, and he assumed office on August 16, 2019. He replaced former DNI director Dan Coats, who resigned on August 15, 2019.[1] Maguire left office on February 19, 2020.[2]
Biography
Prior to his appointment as acting DNI, Maguire was serving as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center. Before that, he was the president and CEO of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Maguire served as a Naval Special Warfare Officer for 36 years and retired in 2010.
Maguire received his master’s degree in national security affairs with a major in scientific and technical intelligence from the Naval Postgraduate School and his bachelor's degree from Manhattan College. While he was in the Navy, he was also a national security fellow at the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.[3]
