Joseph P. Farina
Joseph P. Farina was a judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, Civil Division, in Florida. He served on this court from September 1, 1981 until his retirement in 2012. From 1995 to 2009, he was the Chief Judge.[1][2][3][4]
Farina has served as-needed as an active senior judge.[5]
Education
Farina received his B.A. degree from George Washington University in 1967 and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida in 1970.[2]
Career
Farina is a former private practice lawyer. From 1977 to 1979, he was the Mayor of Miami Shores, FL. He then joined the Miami-Dade County Court, where he served through August of 1981. In September of that year, he joined the circuit court.[1][2]
Noteworthy cases
Justin Bieber arrested for DUI
Pop star Justin Bieber was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol while speeding in Miami Beach. He was charged with a DUI, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license. Judge Farina ordered him held on $2,500 bond, which the singer quickly posted.[6]
The case was assigned to Judge William Altfield.[7]
